A SHORT HISTORY OF THE ESTATE OF LA GOULEE IN VILLERS EN ARTHIES

Sabrina LECLAIRE « Bleu Monet » 2015

In 2014 Sabrina and Alexandre Leclaire fell in love with the magnificent estate of La Goulee, based around a cluster of 18th  century farm buildings.

Many nearby locations in the Seine Valley, Vetheuil, Giverny and Auvers sur Oise, have served Impressionist painters, who have used the local churches, gardens and fields for their paintings. Monet even lived 800 metres from this estate for 3 years, and may have painted in the fields." Camille sur son lit", and "L'Eglise" were certainly painted nearby.

Paris and the glories of Versailles are less than an hour away.

In the 1970s the area was host to groups of English painters, like Mary Towsey, who lived a long while on the estate. Sabrina continues that tradition with "Blue Monet" painting.

We would like to invite you to share with us a few moments away from life's routines, in our Impressionist Suites, arranged to invite you a taste of another century's pace of living.
